Restructure Dredgion System to Enhance PvP
I have to honestly say that I like dredgion, though C-Dredgion really isn’t fun. I recall the times on vaizel/kaisinel where you’d spend the whole dredgion PvPing in ready rooms or even in the gravity area in the beginning. Those were fun times when the best pvp team truly came out on top, and you had to utilize ventrillo, strategy, various gearsets, coordination and make sure you had your best party makeup.
I’ve always thought that there was something missing though; I feel that dredgion should undergo a facelift so to speak. I always mention it when others discuss how Dredgion PvP is boring and most of the times my teams finish in 15 min or less. What I feel dredgion needs to regain its competitiveness is a LADDER system. If anyone has played any real time strategy games like starcraft or warcraft they would know what I’m talking about. Basically its a ranking, and the more you win the higher your rank gets, you take points from those you defeat, and vice versa; and eventually you almost always play against other teams with similar ranking. In the instance where a weaker team is matched up against a top team, that team would receive a significant portion of the higher ranked team’s points for causing an ‘upset’.
More details would be modifying the map somewhat and scoring. First off, almost everyone who likes to PvP does it to compete in one way or another. I think it would be interesting (and increase E-PEENS greatly) if all stats were recorded and shown either in game or on the website. It would be interesting to see who has the most overall dredgion PvP kills, who did the most damage, who healed the most life, etc. Individual titles should also be rewarded based on this sort of dredgion, for example the top team should be like ‘BRINGERS’ in cabal, obtaining a title with sick stats/bonus’. I also feel that a complete captain rush sort of dredgion should be taken out of the game, or at least make the captain significantly harder to spawn or kill during this ‘LADDER’ sort of dredgion. Queing into the dredgion with a full premade versus a pug team should also have separate options, but should always be the same party leader. For example, if I make a dredgion premade and want to enter the ‘LADDER’ type que, I will click the option “LADDER GROUP QUE” or something like that. In this instance everytime I que a dredgion using LADDER GROUP QUE it will have my team’s ladder score and etc. However if I make a pug group and don’t want to join the ‘LADDER’ sort of dredgion then I could simply join the normal dredgion by clicking the “GROUP QUE” option like normal.
I believe that aside from E-PEEN, top tier players need some physical incentive and reward to fight for. I think that every week at maintenance top teams should be presented with healthy rewards given to the party leader who ques to distribute. Frankly I do not care what the prizes are, perhaps 20 extra fortuneer tokens per party member, or 5 extra plats each? IMO the reward should be pretty nice since its what people are likely going to compete for, and more or less prizes based on rankings. Then the WHOLE LADDER should be reset every 3 months or so to flush out inactive groups and what not and give newer parties a fair chance to obtain a top ranking.
I think a lot of the more active PvP players in this game would like this idea, honestly I don’t see why not. Perhaps nerfing the mobs a little more so they don’t hit as damn hard would help too. I’m sure I missed a few things but I outlined the general idea of my dredgion ‘LADDER’ idea. I know there are many other ways to enhance PvP like transforming silentrea canyon into something like the abyss used to be….but I’ll save that for another time :)
